Unexpected Destination

This morning, I got dressed for church…but drove Dan to HEB Emergency instead. His right leg is more swollen, hurting, red in some areas.  They did a sonogram – Venus Doppler – to make sure there were no blood clots.   Dan was sent home from Emergency with instructions to keep his leg propped.  He is to return to Emergency if his temp rises over 99.5 F.

He will see Dr. Anderson, Tuesday morning — 9:30 a.m.  Maybe that heavy dose of chemotherapy will eliminate some of the trapped lymph fluid.  But the side effects are supposed to be severe.

It was a big help to have Mike, one of our ministers, come soon after Dan was installed in a room at Emergency. We have a special connection with them because Sharon’s folks, Maxie and Fran Boren, were friends of ours at ACC.  In fact, we spent the night with them in 1960 before we flew from Love Field to NYC to take the ship to Holland.  Mike’s gentle presence was very comforting.

Mark, one of the elders, and his wife came before Mike left.  Their visit was also very special. Mike and Mark both prayed powerful prayers over us.  We are so thankful for the love, the encouragement, the support, the understanding we receive…such a blessing…and true examples of what Jesus meant when he said, “love one another as I have loved you.”  — Anne and Dan
