Peace in the Midst of the Storm

We are thankful that Dan has had 2 1/2 relatively good days.  He has made two trips to the doctor – one Wednesday, and a “follow up” today.  We celebrate that his platelet count is improved.  He takes several long naps daily, but his appetite is increasing!

Even though the weather is still foggy, there is sonshine inside the house with Scott, Michelle and the children.  They help in so many ways.  We will miss their cheerful, calming presence when we return to Texas next Tuesday, Aug. 19.  I will also miss the walks in the cool weather, all the beautiful flowers here, and the chilly beach where I go to experience God’s healing power as the ocean waves crash upon the beach.

In case you missed this comment made on our last update, let us share what Sherrie said -“The dark valley of cancer cannot hold you captive forever.  The psalmist testifies to God’s promises, “Praise the Lord.  Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands . . . Even in darkness, light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man . . . Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.  His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph . . . He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn [dignity] will be lifted high in honor (Psalm 112:1-9-NIV).”  — Anne and Dan

Jesus says, “When you enter a town or a village, find someone there who is worthy. When you go into his house, give your greeting to it. If the household is worthy, let your greeting of peace be upon it. Stay there until it is time to leave (Matthew 10:13-SEB).” Jesus teaches believers to stay in the peaceful places that bring us joy, benefit, and favor. Sounds like Scott, Michelle, and the children give you a peaceful place in which to stay. Stay in the peaceful places. God will be with you in the peaceful places. Jesus says, “I am leaving peace with you. I am giving you My peace. This peace that I am giving you is not like the type that the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or afraid (John 14:27-SEB).” Love, hugs, and prayers to you!
