Making Progress

Dan felt strong enough to attend church with me this morning.   Even though the mass is still getting bigger, his right leg is not swelling much which means he does not suffer much pain…as long as he wears the special elastic stocking and props his leg some during the day.  However, his blood pressure is still playing tricks – too high  in the morning; later it may drop very low.  The Dr. is working to get it regulated.

We had a pleasant visit with Dyann, our daughter, after first service. We were still in the auditorium talking with a friend, and in walked Dyann, early for 2nd service. She came over to where we were and we talked for at least 30 minutes. That was a very sweet part of our day.

Monday, I will call the Dr. again to ask if the Radiologist has made time to compare the September C-T Scan with the July one. Our question continues to be, “How much of the mass in his groin and abdomen is fluid, and how much is cancer?”  However, since the doctors don’t have anything more to offer other than hospice care and pain control, Dan is choosing to follow a vegan diet that has been successful with terminal patients. Monday evening we will have a conference call with the man who designed the very special diet Dan has chosen.

Today I used the Vita Max super duper blender, grinder machine Dottie bought. You should have seen me chopping all those veggies to put in the machine. Oh, I was feeling creative!  I put carrots, beets, beet tops, cabbage, red bell pepper, tomatoes, onion in it.  I thought it would have a very interesting taste.  Well, how interesting is the taste of beets?  We like beets, but after all that work, it’s got to taste better than that!

Do you remember the story in Nehemiah 6:9 about Nehemiah going back home to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem?  His enemies “were all trying to frighten us, thinking, ‘Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” Instead of giving up, Nehemiah “prayed, ‘Now strengthen my hands!’ ” If you know your Bible, you know that God answered that plea for help, and the wall around Jerusalem was restored!  We feel the attack of the Enemy, but we are praying to God to strengthen us and heal Dan so we may complete our work for Him. Do you ask God for help with both the big and the little problems?  He wants you to. — Anne and Dan
