Challenges Come in Various Shapes and Sizes

Challenges come in all shapes and forms especially at times that are inconvenient.  Let’s see…our Yahoo e-mail quit working (remember the good ole days when messages got sent by smoke signals? You can write a comment on our blog or Skype us if you want to get a message to us.) The meeting with Dan’s personal physician was a time for her to scold us, say that Dan has a bad cancer, and tell us a long list of negative things.  Maybe she was having a bad day, but we both felt very down when we left her office.

Once we had time to analyze what had taken place, we “took back our power,” and decided to put the incident behind us…and move on.  Dr. Anderson, the oncologist in charge of Dan’s case, says there was no cancer found in the tests made last week.  He may tell us Thursday 9:30 a.m. if he wants Dan to have a biopsy.  It will not be simple according to the personal physician. Rather than borrow trouble and worry about “what if,” we are giving this to the Lord to take care of it for us.

We don’t know why there has to be all this struggle, but we obviously need to grow some more.  We do know that this earth is not our home.  We are pilgrims on a journey serving God wherever He calls us.  He expects us to glorify Him by learning what His will actually is, living according to His will as it is written in His Word, and by making the world a better place one step at a time.

Again, tonight, I am led by the Spirit to the writings of James, the brother of Jesus.  In James 1:27, we read, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and undefiled is to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”  Luke 22:37 – 39 says, the first and greatest commandment is, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.”  The second greatest commandment is, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  We’re still working on these.  Challenges – daily challenges – God will help all of us overcome, and become the people He wants us to be if we ask. — Anne and Dan
