Be Thankful IN All Things

I find James 1: 2 very challenging.   “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,”  But James goes on to explain the reason why we can give thanks IN all things (not FOR all things)…”because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt…” James 1:3-7.

We are thankful that Dan was free of fever today.  He was very tired all day, slept a lot, ate his meals at the table, visited  with us after dinner,  walked a bit inside the house (too cold and damp for him to be outside).  His rash is beginning to go away.  “Be thankful IN all things.” – I’m thankful that even though the Home Health service did not send a nurse today, I was able to change Dan’s bandage. OK, so I was not thankful that it took me one and a-half hours to clean and dress the wound.  But I’m thankful that we did not have to go to Emergency to get a new bandage. Dan is not thankful that he again was slathered with cold camphor and menthol cream & THEN wrapped in plastic wrap…the plastic wrap mummy!  But we are thankful that the rash is better.
We are thankful that Michelle continues to make the carrot juice, that a high school girl comes to help chop veggies when she is in town.  We’re thankful that Melissa sent 4 bottles of Xango Juice for Dan. We’re thankful that checks are coming in for our fund raising campaign to provide crutches, canes, wheel chairs for the abandoned children and elderly of Romania. We are thankful IN all things.  We are grateful that today we are okay.  God will take care of all of the tomorrows.– Anne and Dan
