Dare We Be Hopeful?

“When storms around are sweeping, when lone my watch is keeping, remember me, O Mighty One!  Remember me, O Mighty One!”  “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.  When all around my soul gives way, He is my only hope and stay. On Christ the solid rock I stand.  All other ground is sinking sand.”   These songs express our feelings so well.

The father  of our precious daughter in law died early this morning, a victim of severe Alzheimer’s Disease.    Our medical insurance was seriously downgraded by Cigna while Dan was too ill to contact them to say he wanted to stay with the plan we had…and now they are stonewalling us.  We are being urged to accept Hospice Care for Dan.  The wound has stopped bleeding, but is still reddish…and the tumor area is 25% larger than when we first saw the Dr. here on Dec. 13.

But Dan can still walk on his own.  Dan will have a C-T Scan Wednesday to determine how much the cancer has grown, and if trapped fluid is causing the swelling.  We have been accepted for a 5 day retreat beginning Jan. 18, led by Dr. Carl Simonton, one of the world’s leading experts in Guided Imagery to combat cancer.   We will probably have to drive since flying may create more problems for Dan…maybe we’ll rent an RV and Scott will take comp time at work to drive us there.  God has now given us a place to stay with family to help with Dan’s care.  $3,500 has been donated by our friends to buy canes, crutches, walkers, wheel chairs for the abandoned children and elderly that the Covasna County Red Cross helps!!!  Praise be to God who provides these good things!

Yes, we are hopeful!  Tired, yes, but trusting God that He is using us as tools in His hands to glorify Him.  It’s a challenge to trust, to stay out of His way for His goals being accomplished in our lives .  You’d think that by the time someone is 74 and 75, we’d be further along in our faith.  In the midst of the storms that blindside us daily, God does remember us…and helps us manage everything Satan throws at us. What will be the outcome of this battle?  Only God knows.  However, God is God, and we are His.  Praise be to God!  — Anne and Dan
