Jacob Wrestled with God

In Genesis 32:22-29, we read about Jacob, a clever man who worked things to his advantage, deceived people, stole his brother’s birthright.  But God never gave up on Jacob.  The night before he was to meet his brother and ask his forgiveness, Jacob wrestled all night with God.  He touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it.  Jacob said, “I will not let you go until you bless me.”  That is when Jacob’s name was changed to Israel, and he became the father of the 12 tribes of the people of Israel.

What does that have to do with us?  Well, this cancer has us wrestling with God.  The sarcoma is causing pain in Dan’s hip and shooting pains off and on somewhere deep inside the wound.  Dan cannot walk well.  He is physically weak, suffers every day.  But we are both walking even closer to Jesus because of this.  We cannot make it without Him.  Throughout it all, God continues to bless us with love.  Tonight,  I attended a calming, peaceful prayer meeting.

Dan stayed home with the children.  Even though he had taken a pain pill, he played games with them…even read a bedtime story.  We are soaking up the love, the sunshine, the good food, the beauty of the coast and the Pacific Ocean.  And, he is looking forward to Thursday and his 10 a.m. Bible study in Romania – 20:00 in Romania. Anne is looking really good! Very good “seeing” Anne again. I think, the outdoor life agrees with Anne very much. I love the ocean views and all of nature there. Yes, we must wrestle until we get the blessing on the other side of the struggle. Don’t give up until you gain God’s good blessing on the other side of the struggle. We love you, and we pray daily on your behalf. May the Lord bless you, keep you safely in His Loving Care, and lift up your hearts and spirits everyday in some good way. Amen in Jesus name.

    Love to you,
    Sherrie H.
