THE GOOD NEWS  – Dr. Jahan, sarcoma specialist at U of CA at San Francisco (UCSF) said the C-T Scan shows necrotic material in the mass…in other words, the cancer is continuing to die. It is a Grade 3 sarcoma now.  He said there are many options to help Dan.  First, get some weight on him in case the oncology surgeon who works very closely with Dr. Jahan wants to do – 1. some kind of robotic surgery to remove the cancer,  and  2. If the wound does not close completely, plastic surgery can probably be successful in closing it.
There is a more gentle oral chemo – daily doses of Doxyl (sp?),, and once a month intravenous Temazolymide that has had good success with Dan’s type of sarcoma.
Concernng the nodule in Dan’s lung – easily removed with a thorasascope (sp?), just “snip” it out, according to Dr. Jahan.
Dr. Challa or Choula, at UCLA does many clinical trials.  He uses liquid chemo for really resistant tumors.  Two out of five patients that Dr. Jahan sent to him are fine now.
Bottom line – we will see the surgical oncologist by early next week.  Dan will continue using the Guided Imagery.  Dan is to eat whatever he wants to get weight back on him.  Dr. Jahan says he is okay like he is now, but must not lose any more weight.  Dr. Jahan said, “I want to get you back to Romania!”   Dan is elated; I’m cautiously optimistic. Our CA family are all very encouraged.  We still believe in miracles.  We are encouraged by the Scripture God gave me for tonight, Matthew 10: 38 – 39, “Anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.  Whoever finds his life will lose it.  And whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”  — Anne and Dan
