Focus on the Positive

Have you ever noticed that when the sun is shining brightly , there are lots of shadows?  “Yes, though I travel through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I will fear no evil.” How can that be?   You cannot have shadows unless there is light somewhere to cast a shadow. Is it possible in the middle of the darkest hour, Jesus is near?

Our hours are very dark. Sarcomas are still in Dan’s body. But we choose today to focus our eyes upon Jesus and the many blessings He continues to send our way.  Dan was able to sit up on the side of the bed, then using a walker, walked about 4′ to a chair where he sat to eat his lunch.  He was exhausted, but he had a good nap after that.

His siblings, James, Mignon and Bonny, arrived this afternoon.  They are taking turns helping Dan. Bonny is spending the night in Dan’s room tonight.  I am actually off duty from 3:30 on.  It is so nice.  Friday I have a ride to go visit Dan and his siblings for a couple of hours.  Then, friends will pick me up and bring me back here.  Maybe I’ll take a long nap.  Maybe if the day is rain free, I’ll spend a few hours on the beach. I don’t have any plans!

Meanwhile, the doctors and physical therapists are deciding if Dan can leave the hospital next week- maybe go to a rehabilitation unit for a week or more.  Once Dan is stronger, the doctors will begin to treat the sarcomas still in hi body.

Having fallen asleep  writing the blog, I have been told it’s time to go to bed.  That’s a good idea. God bless yo. — Anne and Dan

We are so glad that James, Bonny and Migon arrived safe. I know Dan was glad to see them. It sounds like he is slowly gaining some strength. Our prayers continue to go up for both of you. I do hope you can relax some and get some much needed rest. Let the others fill in while they can be there. Continue to trust, keep the faith and know He is there with you. May our Lord lift your hopes and fill you with peace.
    Love, Fern & Dale

I continue my prayers on your behalf. I am glad Dan is improving. I am glad Anne is getting some much needed rest and relaxation. Yes, you are right. There are no shadows without light somewhere in existence. Yes, Jesus is near . . . very near, because there are shadows of darkness around you. Therefore, the Light of Christ’s Presence also shines brightly around both of you. For believers, wherever there are shadows, then Our Light and Life [Jesus] is very, very near to us.

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear [reverence] him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him (Psalm 34:7,8-NIV).” “In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old (Isaiah 63:9-NIV).”

Jesus rides in on His White Horse for our rescue from every darkness, “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True [Jesus] . . . on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword . . . He will rule them . . . On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS . . . Then I saw the beast [Satan] . . . of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse [Jesus] and his army. But the beast was captured . . . thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur . . . killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the [white] horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their [Satan and his armies] flesh (Revelation 19:11-21-NIV).”

Every dark shadow in our lives gains Christ’s full attention. Jesus gathers His army of angels together and rides into our lives for a great, glorious, and victorious rescue. Jesus defeats that old beast, called Satan, and throws Satan’s armies [cancer, disease, despair] into the eternal fire (and they lose). At the same time, Jesus lifts up His Precious and Cherished People out of Satan’s grip. Jesus wins! Satan loses! This is the Good News of Jesus to every believer.

“In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness . . . He came to that which was his own . . . to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God . . . and born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth . . . From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another (John 1:4-16-NIV).”

He is Risen! He cares for you! He is coming with His good rewards in His hand for you! He rides into town on His white horse in His shining armor for your victorious rescue from Satan’s grip. Amen and praise His Name!

    Love to you,
    Sherrie H.

I think of you so often and send up a prayer each time you come to mind. Rest while you can and take care of Dan when you are able and I trust God will send others to help…I send you my love. I will not cease from asking for miracles.

I’m so thankful that you are getting a much needed time of rest. I hope you can enjoy the beach! Paul arrived safely back from Kansas City, and I’m so glad to have him home. I hope to be able to call you this weekend and hear your wonderful voice.
Paul and I lift you in grateful prayer to our Father and Savior Jesus. Please kiss and hug Dan for us when you see him next.
    Love and prayers!
    Melissa and Paul
