Visit to Plastic Surgeons

The Plastic Surgery doctors were very pleased with Dan’s progress today.  They removed 3 stitches from the chest area where they took the tissue from which they made the flap.  The other stitches are still holding Dan together.  He is to wear a special elastic support around his upper torso for a full 6 weeks after surgery.

The team was also very happy with the condition of the flap which they made to cover the opening in Dan’s pelvis/groin/thigh area where the softball size sarcoma was removed.  We are thankful for their knowledge and expertise.  Now, what we are hoping for is that the Wound Vac will behave itself so we can get some sleep tonight!  Last night, it kept turning itself off.  I was up until 3 a.m. trying to fix it.  Our son got up at 6 a.m. today to finally make it work enough.

The RN who is a Wound Vac specialist came this morning to remove the rough carbon sponge in Dan, and put a new one in.  He taped the Wound Vac well.  We pray it will hold!  Today was pretty much a day with doctors and nurses, but tonight was a calm, quiet evening…we feel almost like “regular” people.

In the midst of our struggles, Hebrews 1: 1-4 gives great meaning to our lives…”In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.”  May you be encouraged! — Anne and Dan
