God Created the Oceans

Blessing 1. Five hours ago, our son drove Dan to Emergency because a piece of the Wound Vac sponge broke off inside the cavity. I did not have to make that drive.  2. When Dan’s blood pressure began to drop from 120/80 down, down to 80/60, he was in ER. 3.  We live with our children who are loving and supportive and help in time of need…which occurs often.  4.  People from church are helping drive us to Dan’s appointments to take pressure off my shoulder that I injured trying to move Dan soon after he came home from the hospital.  5.  Dan’s Internist and Personal Physician, Dr. Nicole Appelle, has agreed to be my Personal Physician.

I haven’t heard from them in 3 hours, but the instructions for wound care is to stop the Wound Vac, and use a wet to dry bandage.  Three times a day, I am to clean the cavity by filling it with sterile saline solution, let that drain out while Dan stands in the tub.  Then I am to pack the cavity with gauze soaked in saline solution, and apply a dry bandage on top of that.  Let’s see – where can I squeeze in 3 bandage changes a day?

Are you asking, “Why must Dan suffer so much?,” let me tell you.  We live in a Fallen World.  Adam and Eve’s act of disobeying God brought sin and suffering into the world.  Being intentional followers of Christ makes it possible for us to have help and counsel from God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Rodger Fulton, our beloved brother in Christ who is taking LST to Sfantu in late September, wrote tonight -“As Paul says in Romans 5, problems and trials “help us develop endurance.  And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”  How precious the comfort of the Holy Spirit.  I guess that is why the Holy Spirit is called the Comforter.” — Anne and Dan

My dear, dear friends, I think of you so often, and have read your blog, but not taken the time to add a comment. Time to correct that. I am so thrilled at the progress Dan is making, and pray that your shoulder will also make much forward progress, Anne. You two are such inspirations to me, and to countless others. My prayers daily include the two of you. I pray that you can continue making good progress. We know that God is so good! Prayers and love.
