We are blessed.  Dan’s pain level today was only a 2 on a scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being unbearable.  He took better care to prop his ankles higher than his knees so I did not have to massage his legs to get the fluid moving.  That’s a blessing for both of us.

The day started out foggy and cool, then became sunny with a sharp, cold wind.  But the Pacific and Montara Mountain were magnificent proclaiming God’s beauty and majesty all day.

The nursing schedule changed recently.  The nurse who was to come today forgot to come.  So, I spent the evening on the phone trying to get the “on call” nurse to come.  They said, “We’ll be sure to have someone come in the morning.” They are not concerned about how long the gauze stays packed inside the cavity.  I was told by 3 different people that it will be fine to leave the packing in for 50 hours.  That’s not what the Plastic Surgeon said.  He wants the packing changed twice a day.

That is important because it helps the cavity heal faster.  The oncologists are waiting to do further testing as soon as the cavity is healed, and the plastic surgery is safe.  I changed the packing myself tonight.  It only took about 45 minutes counting preparation time. A real nurse can do the job from start to finish in 15 minutes.

Dan is gaining in strength, and I am growing more tired with very painful shoulders.  God is our strength in time of need. Your prayers are helping us endure the challenges. — Anne and Dan
