Dan met with his Personal Physician today.  She ordered an x-ray and an ultrasound to see if the edema which attacked him for so long has affected (plumped) the blood vessels around his heart.  She also wants him to eat more protein to get some meat on his bones.  He is emaciated looking. Even though most of the swelling is gone,  his feet and that cough still give him trouble.  She had discussed Dan’s reaction to the diuretics with other doctors.  None of them had ever had a patient to have a severe reaction. (Is it possible that none of their patients are allergic to sulfa?)

Friday at 1 p.m. Pacific Time, Dan is to meet with Dr. Hoffman and/or one of his Senior Residents.  This is what he e-mailed me, “I agree with you that possibly opening the wound a little would definitely make the packing easier.  Perhaps you could come to our resident clinic on Friday and either I or one of the senior residents could take a look and possibly open slightly with some local anesthesia.”  Please, pray that God will heal this cavity.  If part of His plan is to heal it through medical means, then ask Him to help the doctors give us an opening through which to easily insert the packing.

Since I am still mostly bedfast with a slowly improving sinus infection, our son will take Dan to this appointment…45 – 60 minute drive from here.  Jay is calling in the morning to pray with us.  He knows how discouraged and tired we are.  He and Paul have been faithful friends ever since they  and Dan worked together in the ’97 campaign with Prentis in Volgograd .  They remind us that Jesus is always with us.  In fact,in Matthew 28:18-20, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  What a great and precious promise!  —  Anne and Dan
