The Final Word Has Been Given?

Many fine, caring, top doctors at UCSF called on Dan today.  Our Personal Care Physician, Dr. Nicole Appelle, Internist at UCSF, phoned me at home to ask, “How are you doing?”  She was concerned about my sinus infection, but the real reason for her call was to see how I’m dealing with losing Dan.  She is brilliant and compassionate.  She told me, “The medical teams looked at absolutely every possible option, but there is nothing they can do.”

The sarcoma doubles in size every time it grows.  Besides, the lungs have many lesions now.  The doctors won’t give an estimate as to how long they think Dan has left on this earth.  But you can do the math…this one 10 cm. sarcoma will be a 20 cm. (10″) the next time it grows at all.

A time-release morphine pill is being used to keep down Dan’s pain. He is lucid…just very weak.  The goal now is to keep him comfortable, and provide him good quality of life in the short time he has left.   Tom and Jaye may fly in from Dallas this weekend.  Bob and Donna, our children, will be here next week.  Natasha and her daughter, Amber, who is a nurse will be here May 20 – 30 to help us.

As soon as he gets rested, Dan is going to begin the Small Group Bible studies again in Sfantu Gheorghe via Skype.  Dan asked me to continue our benevolent work, God’s Children, in Romania.  God will lead us on the path that will glorify Him.  Jehovah God has the Final Word.  Until He has said, “It is finished,” it is not over.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.  Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish” (Isaiah 41:10-11).

And, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:18-19).  Praise the Lord! — Anne and Dan

Anne and Dan, You are such special people to me. I have been reading your blog and gain such strength from you. The verses you post, your dependence on the Lord, your committment to each other and to those you love and those you do not even know. The pictures of Romania and the camp are so sweet. Ric and I coordinate a camp for kids from our church and we see how much good comes from such an experience. Who knows but God what will come from the seeds we plant? Who knows but God the good that will come from the seeds you have and are planting in Romania. Your friends everywhere are reading your blog and learning how to depend on God completely in all circumstances. WE LOVE YOU. Sherry

    Dan and Anne
We continue to pray for you both daily. We love you both so much and weep and anguish with you at the prognosis from the doctors. We still hope that God will heal Dan. Know that we think of you and miss you in your time of pain. Our God is merciful, loving and compassionate. Cling to His promise for salvation and redemption.

    Love ,
    Clark and Brenda
