Made It Through Another Day

Though he was exhausted today, Dan had a fair day.  Having been in the hospital 5 days with such caring doctors and palliative care experts has helped Dan face what seems to be the reality…that his days on this earth are few.  He said  tonight, “I’d like to write a letter of thanks to each person who has helped us along the way.  There are so many, I know I don’t have the strength or time to get it done.”  If you are reading this, you are probably one of the people who has helped us to be better people.`

The calls and e-mails and Skype visits keep coming in from so many that we love.  Our daughter called twice today.  I was blessed to have a long, comforting conversation with her, but Dan was not able to be on the phone either time that she phoned. The Home Hospice people are so helpful!  It provides more help than Home Health Care.

It’s late.  I’ve been awake since 5:30 a.m.  I did take a walk on the beach to grieve, pray and calm myself this morning…and be able to make it through the day. The Pacific was raging.  A strange olive green color was in the water as it crashed upon the shore.  It seem as though the ocean was expressing my feelings.  When I went in the kitchen to fix myself some lunch, I was amazed to see that the clock said it was 5:20 p.m.  God helped us make it through another day.  Blessed be the Name of the Lord.  — Anne and Dan
