The Days Grow Long

As Dan grows weaker and weaker, there is more to do to take care of him.  We who live in this house with Dan are all pretty much exhausted, but that does not matter.  We will do whatever it takes to provide the care Dan needs because we love him.  He will soon be gone. We can rest then.

Today, again, he ate very little food.  He has no appetite, and is seldom thirsty…more signs that the end is near.  There is much to tell about today, but, frankly, it was just an ordinary day in the life of a family of a dying man.  It’s late.  I can’t hold my eyes open, or my hands on the keys.  Feast your eyes on this beautiful scene taken during my 15 minute walk on Montara Beach today, and pray that God will comfort all those who are grieving over Dan’s passing.  Jesus is with him.  He is not alone, and neither are weIMG_0125.

When I asked God for a scripture to comfort you tonight, I was a bit surprised at the one God gave me. I asked, “How is this comforting?”  Then the Holy Spirit flooded my mind with ways it can be comforting.  It certainly is comforting for Dan and me.  But this is for you – “Many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized (buried, immersed completely, in water)”  Acts 18:8.  — Anne and Dan
