Why Am I So Afraid?

Life is always full of challenges.  It feels like adjusting to being a widow is the biggest challenge of my life so far.   At church today I got hugs from many dear friends and made some new friends.  Again, I was immersed in love which is very healing.

After eating at my favorite restuarant , La Bistro, we came back to Judy’s home where I had a long rest.  I got up in time to attend the small group Bible study.  They were studying what God says about worry.  Philippians 4: 5 – 7 says, “…the Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, present your requests to God.  And, the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” 

Well, I ask you, “HOW do you do that???  Philippians 4:8 gives us the answer.  “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.”  I’m working on doing that.

However, I must need to do much more thinking about things that are excellent or praiseworthy, because the Lord also gave me the Scripture AGAIN today, “Why are you so afraid?  Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the waves, and it was completely calm.” – Matthew 8:26. 

This message is for all of us who are grieving over losing Dan, feeling sad or confused that he is gone from this earth.  We will be okay if we follow Jesus.  That’s Who made Dan the person he was.  God’s Word has the answers.  God will send the Comforter to us – of that I am positive. — Anne
